Foh desktop 2022 Foh mobile 2022

A permanent shift is underway in the way we think about the home, creating tremendous opportunity for those working in design. At the same time, the industry has never been more in flux.

Future of Home is the definitive event for smart, curious design professionals looking to position their businesses for success in the years to come. In a riveting two-day event, a range of experts—from entrepreneurs and business coaches to bestselling authors—will take the stage, unpacking the forces of change sweeping and shaping the industry. The topics at hand will surprise and challenge you: developing emotional fitness in leadership, building a sustainable workplace, exploring what luxury means to the next generation, telling stories with data, designing for connection and so much more.

In addition to onstage programming, attendees will enjoy small-group workshops, networking opportunities, future-focused exhibitions, a robust gift bag, an invitation to the opening night party—and a new perspective on the state of the industry.

Mirrors: A Wellness Workshop
with Well-Designed Facilitators
Ba 0152628 crop2 lr

Heavy workloads and demanding schedules are the new reality for many designers, resulting in unsustainable patterns and, in some instances, burnout, anxiety and poor mental health. In this inaugural workshop by Well-Designed, attendees will have the opportunity to investigate common beliefs, assumptions and attitudes that play a defining role in our community, then apply their creativity to challenge these default behaviors. Caleb Anderson and DeAndre DeVane, along with lead facilitator Vallori Thomas, will guide attendees as they explore the ways perceptions influence the actions and interactions integral to the beauty we create, individually and as a collective. Following a brief introduction, the workshop will include centering exercises and engaging, heart-opening content.

Nail Your Pricing Strategy
with business coach Sean Low

We’ve all been there: You’re so into the creative process that you sweep those late-night “billable” hours spent scouring the information superhighway for the perfect wall sconce or tile pattern right under the rug. One of the biggest frustrations designers face is figuring out what to charge and how to account for their precious time. But is there a way to successfully craft a pricing strategy that reflects your expertise, your experience and the time and energy you put into your projects, including accounting for headaches and hidden costs? Regardless of the approach you take—billing per hour, per project, with or without markups, or something in between—there is no one “right” way to charge.

In this workshop, business consultant Sean Low, whose company provides practical advice to creative professionals, will outline the different pricing structures relevant to interior designers; highlight the advantages and disadvantages of each; and share real-life scenarios so you can figure out which is right for you. Through small group discussions, attendees will address the issues they are currently confronting, with Low rotating through each to actively problem-solve.

Master Your Money Mindset
with business coach Justine Clay
Justineclay

One of the biggest challenges designers share is a lack of clarity and confidence around money and pricing. Whether it’s knowing what to charge per project or creating a business model that will help them attain profitability, many find themselves just winging it and hoping for the best. But gaining financial clarity, confidence and expertise is like any other skill—it’s learned. Unlike other skills, though, there are underlying beliefs you simply need to understand and move past before the money consistently rolls in.

High-maintenance, low-paying clients? Hesitancy around raising rates or discomfort talking about money and communicating your value? A desire to invest in your business or scale but a lack of confidence to do so? You’re not alone. During this three-hour interactive workshop, business coach Justine Clay will share a framework to help you identify your limiting beliefs and rewrite your financial story; create money goals that have meaning, inspire you and stick; and cultivate the routines, habits, actions and support network necessary to dramatically increase your income. Part learning experience, part personal reflection, part masterminding with industry peers, it promises to completely alter your attitude about money. Come with an open mind and let the transformation begin!

Find Your Inner Design Book
with literary agent Kim Perel
Headshot sq

Do you have a genius idea for a book but just don’t know where to begin—how to translate it to the page, who to send it to? And do you ever wonder how other designers score those major deals with big publishing houses? You’re not alone. To an outsider, the publishing world can seem mysterious and intimidating. The good news is, getting a book contract is all about insider secrets. Demystify the process and soon your projects could be gracing the glossy pages of a handsome interior design tome.

Whether you want your book to serve as a key tool for your brand or a showcase of your talents, this workshop will help focus your efforts. Literary agent Kim Perel shares her tried-and-true formulas, tips and tricks, guiding you step-by-step to success. You’ll learn how to craft a killer query letter, create a polished proposal that will open every door and hook a hotshot agent to deliver your sample pages straight to the desks of top editors. For a game-changing opportunity to create the ultimate calling card for your unique design perspective—and become a published author as well—this is the workshop to take. Don’t miss it.
